About me
Kerim Sabuncuoğlu
I was born in 1967 in, Istanbul – Turkey.
I studied business administration at Boğaziçi University – Istanbul and graduated with double majors in Economics and International Marketing degrees from Schiller International University – London. I currently own an event management company based in Istanbul.
I started skin diving at the age of five and scuba diving at the age of twenty. I have been an underwater photographer since 2002.
I was the president of the Jury of Golden Fin (Turkish Underwater Photography Competition) 2021
I won the “Conservation Photographer of 2021” title from Oceanographic Magazine.
I took part in numerous domestic and international photography juries. I was honored to be the president of the jury at the “Stay in the Blue” online underwater competition in 2020.
I am currently the director of CMAS (World Underwater Federation) Visual Commission since 2017 and a member of the Turkish Underwater Sports Federation’s, Visual Commission.
I became the Turkish Champion of Underwater Photography in two consecutive years, 2011 and 2012, and represented Turkey at different CMAS championships.
My photos are sold at contemporary auctions and published in different magazines, newspapers. I am invited to TV shows, radio shows, universities to talk about my love – underwater.
Lately, I published my fifth joint underwater photography book (Sometimes in South Maldives, in Thailand, in Palau, in Cuba, and in Galapagos).
